The challenge of sustainability in fashion
Sustainability is one of the most pressing challenges in the fashion industry today, and for small brands and start-ups, the path to true sustainability can be particularly difficult. At AEMMI, we are deeply committed to this cause, but we also recognise the unique difficulties we face as a growing brand.
One of the biggest challenges for smaller companies like ours is small-scale production. Unlike larger brands, we don't have the luxury of mass production, which often comes with lower costs and more sustainable options. For us, producing smaller batches of high quality products often means higher production costs, making it more difficult to implement environmentally friendly practices across the board.
The complexity of our products also adds to the challenge. Jackets in particular are complex garments with many details and trimmings, from zips and buttons to linings and fabrics. Each of these elements requires careful sourcing to ensure it meets sustainability standards, which is no easy task when striving for both quality and environmental responsibility.
However, at AEMMI we strive to do our best. We feel responsible for the world and the environment. Sustainability is a core value for us and we are constantly striving to improve. Our goal is to become a completely environmentally friendly and climate-neutral brand in the future. We have already taken some important steps towards achieving this:
Many of our materials are made from certified recycled fabrics.
We use certified reprocessed down or recycled polyester fill.
Our packaging is made from recycled paper and is designed to be reusable.
Our warehouse is powered entirely by solar energy.
But we know that sustainability is a long journey and we still have a long way to go. That's why we want to encourage you, our customers, to do your bit too. We believe that true sustainability is not only about manufacturing responsibly, but also about using products wisely. We invite you to wear your AEMMI jacket as long as you can, recycle it when you can or pass it on to someone who loves it as much as you did.
Together we can make a difference.
