HOW TO WEAR OUTERWEAR IN SUMMER
Summer, but with Outerwear
Some of the best summer looks start with a jacket.
Not because summer dressing needs an extra layer, but because the right jacket can completely change the way an outfit feels. It adds structure to a simple look, creates contrast, and can make even the easiest combination feel more considered.
For us, summer outerwear is all about lightweight fabrics, relaxed silhouettes, and effortless styling. Think oversized blazers, leather jackets, and relaxed trenches paired with the pieces we already love wearing in summer.
The jacket isn’t an afterthought. It’s part of the look.
1. Keep the Rest Simple
One of our favorite ways to style a statement jacket in summer is to keep everything else pared back.
A simple tank top, shorts or a skirt, plus a lightweight jacket is often all you need. We love the contrast between a strong silhouette and uncomplicated basics. It allows the jacket to become the focal point without making the outfit feel overstyled.
And when the temperature rises, simply drape the jacket over your shoulders or carry it in your hand. The look still works.
2. Blazers, but Make Them Summer
A blazer doesn’t have to feel formal. In summer, we especially love it when it’s oversized, relaxed, and styled with pieces that are anything but business.
Think tailored shorts, a mini skirt, a simple white top, or even a lightweight dress. Add loafers, sandals, or sneakers and the blazer instantly gives the look a more effortless, polished feel.
The key is the silhouette. A slightly oversized blazer feels relaxed rather than corporate – more “thrown on” than “dressed for the office.”
3. The Summer Leather Jacket
Leather might not be the first material you associate with summer, which is exactly why we love the contrast.
A leather jacket adds a little edge to lightweight summer pieces and keeps them from feeling too predictable. Try it over a flowing dress, with shorts and a tank top, or paired with a long skirt.
The combination of delicate and tough, feminine and edgy, is what makes these looks interesting.
Sometimes, all a summer outfit needs is a little contrast.

4. Don’t Forget the Trench
The trench is another piece that deserves a place in your summer wardrobe.
Worn open and loosely styled, it works beautifully with simple summer staples: a tank top and denim, shorts, or a lightweight dress underneath.
The long silhouette adds an element of structure without making the outfit feel too polished. Especially for city looks, a relaxed trench is one of those pieces that instantly pulls everything together.

5. It’s All About the Styling
Summer outerwear is less about the rules and more about the way you wear it.
Push up the sleeves. Leave the jacket open. Drape it over your shoulders. Play with proportions by pairing an oversized silhouette with short or lightweight pieces. Mix different textures and materials.
That’s what makes summer outerwear feel effortless rather than practical.
The jacket doesn’t need to serve a purpose beyond making the outfit feel more complete.
Summer, but with Outerwear
We don’t think of summer jackets as something you reach for only when the temperature drops.
We wear them because they add something to the outfit.
A little structure. A little contrast. A different silhouette.
Sometimes, that extra layer is exactly what makes a summer look feel finished.
So no, we’re not leaving our jackets behind this summer.
We’re just styling them differently.
